Scope

The BIOTRANSFORM project (Circular BIOeconomy TRANSFORMation for regions by enabling resource and governance networks) aims to provide European policymakers with an adequate assessment and policy development framework, knowledge base and expert support ecosystem to accelerate the transition from linear fossil-based systems to circular bio-based systems. It operates at the interface between the circular economy and the bioeconomy transitions.

Specifically, the project equips policymakers with the tools needed to identify informed priorities that serve environmental, economic and social goals that are actionable, future-proof and aligned with supply and demand trends in related industries and value chains.

The project is now nearing completion, and is hosting a final event on BIOTRANSFORM: Advancing Circular Bioeconomy Solutions for a Sustainable Europe. Participants will gain insights into the project’s key achievements, practical outcomes and future potential to support Europe’s transition to a circular bioeconomy.

See how the project has:

  • demonstrated innovative circular bioeconomy pathways tailored to regional contexts and following a new circular bioeconomy transformation methodology: Andalusia (Spain), Northern Burgenland (Austria), Western Macedonia (Greece), Finland, Charles Spa Region (Czech Republic) and North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany);
  • delivered actionable insights through roadmaps and tools for policymakers, industry leaders and communities enabling them to adopt circular bioeconomy practices;
  • offered cutting-edge governance models with practical solutions, overcoming institutional barriers and fostering collaboration across sectors.

This event will take place at 14:00 to 16:00 CET on 13 March during BIOKET 2025 at the SQUARE Brussels Meeting Centre in Brussels. It will be in-person only and in English. Programme and registration.
