This webinar on environment and climate pressures from household consumption & pathways towards sustainable and circular consumption in Europe draws on extensive analytical work conducted by the European Environment Agency (EEA) and supported by the European Topic Centre on Circular Economy and Resource Use (ETC/CE). It will focus on household consumption and its environment and climate pressures, as well as conditions and pathways for sustainable and circular consumption in Europe.

As part of the ETC/CE project, the CSCP and other partners have explored internal and external drivers of consumption and how it can be changed to ensure that everyone can have a good life while abiding by the planet's boundaries. These studies have investigated consumption trends in the EU, including environmental footprints and the conditions and pathways needed to shift to sustainable and circular consumption.

The output of this work is set out in the report on Consumption and the Environment in Europe’s Circular Economy and two related briefings:

  1. Conditions and pathways for sustainable and circular consumption in Europe, and
  2. Environment and climate pressures from household consumption in Europe.
