Household Hazardous Waste | Workshop 4: After Collection

Hazards Out! is an initiative of the European Waste Management Association, FEAD in partnership with ACR+ and Hazardous Waste Europe facilitated by NOWMORE, to raise awareness about the mandatory separate collection of household hazardous waste (HHW) and support local authorities and other relevant stakeholders with establishing effective HHW management strategies.

The initiative is organising a series of online workshops. The fourth one will focus on the operational aspects of HHW management, exploring how it is safely transported, temporarily stored, treated, and, where possible, recovered. This workshop will examine:

  • The logistics and transportation of HHW, including safety requirements and cross-border movements;
  • Temporary storage at civic amenity sites, transfer stations and treatment facilities;
  • Treatment and recovery options, including key constraints and opportunities;
  • Principles for good HHW management – practical Dos and Don’ts for operators and local authorities.

Participants will benefit from first-hand insights from international organisations, industry and municipal operators sharing their expertise, challenges and practical examples from various European countries. They will also have the opportunity to join the open discussion about the operational realities of HHW and transferable practices for good transportation, storage and treatment.

This webinar will take place in English at 11:00 CET on 11 February. Registration and programme.
