Kerava's New Era Building and Housing Festival: inspiration and circular solutions

The New Era Buildings and Housing Festival, better known as URF, is organised by the Finnish city of Kerava in Kerava Manor, located in a new residential area called Keravan Kivisilta. URF is the main event in Kerava's 100th anniversary celebrations and will take place from 26 July to 7 August. It focuses on sustainable housing and living, providing inspiration and circular solutions for future housing.

URF aims to:

  • change our way of life for the better by making it more sustainable, meaningful and humane
  • create hope, inspiration and solutions for today and the future
  • create a vision of a new era of sustainable construction, living and lifestyle
  • try to identify sustainable solutions: green living areas, self-sufficiency, community and well-being, art and research, sustainable construction, smart energy and transport and a circular economy approach.

The rich agenda includes panel discussions and keynote speakers, workshops and a cultural programme for all age groups. Guests can visit the pavilions and houses being built in the area, practise and learn sustainable life skills and enjoy tasty local food.

Visitors can attend the festival for free but there is also a fee-paying agenda on weekday mornings geared to housing and building professionals.

The event is in Finnish, but the discussions, workshops and section for housing and building professionals will also be available in English. (The website is currently only in Finnish, but the English version is coming!)

The paid evening concerts are intended for adults (concerts and tickets).
