CIRCit research project: tools and guides for shifting to the circular economy
The CIRCit research project aimed to help Nordic industry learn about and implement circular opportunities by developing, testing and implementing science-based tools.
The project had six focus areas, each presenting different approaches to the transition to the circular economy:
The project produced a number of publications, including Towards a business analytics capability for the circular economy and The effects of business analytics capability on circular economy implementation, resource orchestration capability, and firm performance.
It also produced workbooks containing tools and guides for transitioning towards a circular economy. These workbooks relate to the project’s six focus areas and are as follows:
- Circular Economy Sustainability Screening: A support for decision-making through the sustainability screening of alternative circular solutions in terms of environmental, social and business potential
- Circular Economy Business Modelling: A guide to the creation of circular business models based on a step-by-step approach, best practice and success cases.
- Circular Product Design and Development: An approach to assess product circularity and a set of circular design guidelines for early product development.
- Smart Circular Economy: A look at how digitalisation and smart products can play a role in facilitating the transition to a Circular Economy.
- Closing the Loop for a Circular Economy: An assessment tool and guidelines to support the identification of the best circular strategy for products at end-of-use.
- Collaborating and Networking for a Circular Economy: An approach to support circular value chain configurations, seeking innovation through collaboration.
