Herewear Hub: tools for the biobased, local and circular textile and clothing ecosystem
The EU-funded HEREWEAR project ran from 2020 to 2024. It contributed to the creation of an EU market for locally produced, circular textiles and clothing made from bio-based resources.
It aimed to:
- develop and pilot at a semi-industrial scale emerging sustainable technologies for wet and melt spinning of cellulose from waste streams and bio-based polyesters,
- work on yarn and fabric production as well as coating and colouring with bio-based agents,
- significantly reduce the release of microfibres via measures for the textile manufacturing process,
- maximise the sustainability and circularity of clothing through connecting regional microfactories.
The HEREWEAR HUB has been developed to share the results of this project. It is a collection of 40+ resources and is intended to help anyone gain the skills and find information and contacts to become part of the biobased, local and circular textile and clothing ecosystem.
Users can read introductory guides and use generative tools, service platforms and other resources to explore the bio-based, local and circular economy.
The HUB is managed by Cedecs-TCBL, a project partner, and is free to access as a free community member of the non-profit TCBL Association.
