Description:

Waste collection in a circular economy faces challenges from both the upstream (increasing diversity and complexity of waste) and the downstream (sorted materials relevant to recyclers).

During the conference, co-organised by ACR+ and LIPOR (Intermunicipal Waste Management of Greater Porto), the role of selective waste collection in a CE was examined by focusing on two different waste streams (plastics and bio-waste) while also granting consideration to the future of highly selective collection streams, e.g. for coffee capsules.
