Bridging the Gap: Youth Roundtable Dialogue on Textile Waste
The textile industry remains a "hard-to-reach" sector where youth perspectives are frequently overlooked, creating a significant disconnect between new regulations and on-the-ground reality. While the industry faces rapid shifts under the Circular Economy Act, young designers and professionals are already pioneering the future and reimagining the sector through the innovative use of deadstock, upcycling and second-hand materials.
This roundtable is organised by Generation Climate Europe, which ensures that the views of young people are taken into account in decision making.
It will feature Barry Andrews MEP, Co-Chair of the European Parliament's Sustainable Textile Working Group. The session will be an exclusive opportunity for participants to engage in a discussion on curbing ultra-fast fashion, regulating textile waste and advancing circular solutions for the textile sector.
The roundtable is part of Generation Climate Europe’s ongoing Youth Report on Textile Waste and aims to ensure that youth perspectives inform EU-level policy discussions and recommendations.
This event will take place in person at 08:00-09:15 CEST on 30 June. It will be held at the European Parliament: you will need to register to enter.
