Circular economy between resource sovereignty and global justice
The workshop will examine how Europe can reduce dependence on critical raw materials while ensuring that the circular transition is fair, inclusive and built on genuine international partnerships. Participants will discuss what a truly just circular economy looks like and the changes needed to make it a reality.
The workshop aims to answer following questions:
- How do we ensure that this transformation does not cement unequal structures and repeat the mistakes of the linear economy?
- How can we make the circular economy inclusive and fair, so that countries and the populations of the Global South have a stake in implementing it as part of a genuine partnership?
- What would a truly just circular economy look like – and what needs to change to achieve it?
Whether you work in policy, education, industry or research, you will have an opportunity to exchange ideas, discover practical solutions and also connect with stakeholders from the Global South committed to contributing to both resource resilience and global justice.
This event will take place in English and German at 18:00-20:00 CEST at the Heinrich Böll Foundation Conference Centre, Schumannstr. 8, 10117 Berlin. It will also be livestreamed, in both English and German. See the programme and register.
