EPR in practice: Lessons from grassroots waste pickers' organisations around the world

The Global Action Partnership for Extended Producer Responsibility (GAP for EPR) is organising a webinar as part of the series on Cooperation with the informal sector: a key pillar for the successful implementation of EPR. It will explore challenges, good practices and solutions for bringing together informal actors across different material flows and in different places and provide tools for designing more inclusive and effective CSR frameworks.

How does Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) work in practice and what does it mean for grassroots recyclers and second-hand operators? This session will bring together representatives of waste pickers' organisations and second-hand operators from South Africa, Chile and Europe to share their experiences with EPR policies.

Speakers will address the opportunities and challenges that these systems generate, presenting lessons learned in different national situations.

Join this conversation about how EPR can contribute to more inclusive and effective waste management systems!

 Speakers

  • Luyanda Hlatshwayo, The African Reclaimers Organization (ARO)
  • Soledad Mella, Asociación Nacional de Recicladores de Chile (ANARCH)
  • Pietro Luppi, National Network of Secondhand Operators Association (Rete ONU)

This webinar will take place at 16:00 CEST on 24 June. Interpreting is available (Spanish-English / English-Spanish). Register here.
