This event is organised by the REFRESH project (Smart dismantling, sorting and REcycling of glass Fibre REinforced composite from wind power Sector through Holistic approach). It's a European project aiming to develop and demonstrate a novel circular, smart system enabling improved recycling of glass fibre reinforced composites derived from wind turbine dismantling or reblading.

Most components of a wind turbine have established recycling routes, but the rotor blades, which mainly comprise highly durable composite materials, present a complex challenge. Existing recycling solutions for glass fibre reinforced composites are not yet widely available or economically competitive.

WindEurope, which aims to advance wind energy, estimates that by 2030, Europe will have generated over 50 kilotonnes of end-of-life blade waste. Scaling up sustainable recycling and repurposing solutions, such as those being developed in the REFRESH project, is essential to transform these materials into useful new products and applications

This 2-hour webinar will present the progress being made by REFRESH in developing and demonstrating a novel smart, circular system enabling improved recycling of composite materials from turbine blades. The event will focus on the first part of the REFRESH value chain: blade preparation for recycling (cutting, shredding and sorting technologies) and recycling processes (mechanical and thermal).

There is no charge for attending this webinar. It will take place in English at 14:00-16:00 CET on 17 November. Programme and registration.
