Showcasing insights: EU Accelerator Arena at #WCEF2025!
This year's World Circular Economy Forum 2025 will feature an EU Accelerator Arena, showcasing a series of nine sessions dedicated to innovative initiatives that foster circular value chains, trade partnerships and compliance with environmental standards.
One of the key themes of the Accelerator Arena will be the collaboration between the EU and Latin America, particularly through the EU Global Gateway initiative. This partnership aims to build robust circular economy value chains, with real-life case studies from countries like Mexico, Guatemala and Peru.
Another area of interest will be crafting effective circular economy policies that connect regions and share solutions. Participants will talk about developing circular economy roadmaps, drawing on experiences from Latin America, Africa, Europe and Asia.
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will also be a central topic of discussion, as they play a crucial role in the circular economy. Sessions will explore tailored support for SMEs, addressing the challenges they face in accessing the knowledge and technology necessary to adopt circular practices. The importance of local Business Support Organisations in bridging these gaps will be highlighted.
The Accelerator Sessions will also delve into the management of plastics, spotlighting innovative practices in Latin America that align with European regulations on eco-design and packaging. As Latin American companies work to eliminate single-use plastics and reshape consumer behaviour, the session will provide a platform for sharing best practices and fostering collaboration. Furthermore, the EU Accelerator Arena will equip stakeholders with user-friendly, interconnected digital tools, often linked to development programmes.
In addition, the EU Accelerator Arena will address the broader implications of circular economy initiatives beyond the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A session will focus on financial and trade support mechanisms that can enhance circularity initiatives, as well as innovative approaches to tackle the challenges of equitable transitions.
These sessions will take place on 15-16 May in person (Tivoli Hotel, São Paulo) and online.
