A breakfast briefing will be held on 5 March (9-10 a.m. CET) to launch the Think2030 paper ‘A low-carbon and circular industry for Europe’, co-written by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP).

The paper explores how the circular economy could reduce the EU’s greenhouse gas emissions associated with three of its most carbon-intensive sectors:

  • the built environment,
  • mobility, and
  • food.

With the Commission’s new Industrial Strategy proposal scheduled for later this month, some of the key decisions that will shape the future of the bloc’s industry will be made in the coming months. As the authors of the paper argue, those decisions must take a comprehensive look at the entire gamut of greenhouse gas emissions generated by the EU’s industrial activities, including the significant percentage of emissions associated with the production and consumption of products and food.

During the breakfast briefing, the authors will share the key findings and recommendations for policies up to 2030 and beyond, followed by remarks from high-level guests, including MEPs, and questions from the audience.
