As announced in the EU Circular Economy Action Plan, the European Commission is preparing for actions to address the presence of microplastics in the environment. The Commission has now opened a consultation on microplastics pollution. It is accessible to all stakeholders to express views about a possible policy to tackle microplastic pollution and to find measures to reduce its impact on the environment.

In addition, the consultation will be used to collect additional information about sources, monitoring, known initiatives to limit emissions and potential measures to abate emissions.
