The Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation establishes a framework for setting ecodesign requirements. It is the cornerstone of the EU's approach to making products more environmentally sustainable and circular. 

To support its implementation, the European Commission's Joint Research Centre has developed a set of methodological reports. These cover the assessment of products' lifecycle environmental impacts and circularity, the setting of horizontal requirements, the ranking of potential requirements, the identification of substances of concern, performance classes and labels, the Digital Product Passport, Green Public Procurement, support for impact assessments and the contribution to the EU's open strategic autonomy. 

Starting in September, the Joint Research Centre will be consulting stakeholders on these reports. There will be several rounds of consultations: for each round, an online workshop followed by a survey will look at two of the 11 reports. The Joint Research Centre will then analyse the feedback and publish the revised reports. 

The consultation period will run from September 2026 to December 2027, with the first workshop taking place in October 2026 and the last in September 2027.
