The European Commission has completed an evaluation of Directive 2000/53/EC on end-of-life vehicles (ELV Directive) in 2021, identifying various shortcomings.

The Commission is now working on an impact assessment for a possible revision of the ELV Directive. In this context, it has launched a public consultation directed to citizens with a general interest and stakeholders (economic operator, NGOs, public administrations, etc.) with a specific knowledge and/or interest in the ELV sector.

The consultation, launched on 20 July 2021, will be open till 26 October 2021.
