LOOP-Ports to present results of circular economy implementation in European ports at its final conference
On 16 December 2020, the LOOP-Ports circular economy project, coordinated by Fundación Valenciaport and co-financed by EIT Climate-KIC, will organise its final conference. The event will be an official side event of the World Circular Economy Forum Online hosted by the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra and its partners, online and open to the public.
The objective of this conference is to:
- disseminate the results of the project,
- present the main circular economy best practices already implemented in different European ports and
- put special emphasis on the analysis of the barriers faced by the stakeholders of the maritime-port sector when developing and implementing the circular economy in their strategies.
The event will host presentations of several circular business models in port environments but also the results of the training pilots tailored explicitly for the sector and that enhance the concept of the circular economy in the strategies of the port authorities and the port clusters’ companies.
Besides, a set of business opportunities in this area will be explained, as a vehicle for promoting this kind of systemic innovation initiatives in the maritime-port environments and related industries.
Finally, the event will also highlight the experiences exchanged by the participants in the numerous workshops held during the project. LOOP-Ports has contributed to the transition towards a more sustainable and efficient European economy by the creation of a circular economy network of ports. The network provides an ecosystem of innovation around port activities and stimulates the dissemination, valorisation and replicability of specific circular economy initiatives in the ports of the European Union.
