65% of electrical and electronic appliances put on the market in Belgium must be collected. Unfortunately, Belgium does not (yet) meet this European target. According to Deloitte's research, 30% of electrical appliances placed on the Belgian market is untraceable.

A key step in achieving that 65% target is to map e-waste streams reliably and at every stage. The non-profit organisation BeWeee was set up to ensure that all actors in the e-waste chain can fulfil their reporting obligation uniformly and clearly.

The new BeWeee tool records how much Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) enters the Belgian market and how much is collected.

Reporting will be possible as from 17 April 2023.
