Description

ReTuna Återbruksgalleria revolutionises shopping by being the world's first recycling mall in Eskilstuna, Sweden. ReTuna takes old items and gives them a new life through repair and upcycling.

The gallery opened in 2015, and since then every item sold has been organically or sustainably produced. The mall has a variety of shops: an outlet for construction and interior materials, a flower shop, a toyshop, a furniture shop, a vintage clothes store, a café and more. The public can leave items in the recycling containers provided by the mall, which are then redistributed to the shops. The mall also lays on events such as workshops and seminars.

The idea of the mall came from Eskilstuna Municipality: it wanted to introduce a green role model that could spread knowledge about sustainability and the circular economy to the public. So it is more than just a marketplace: it is also a public educator. It is run by the municipality-owned Eskiltuna Energi och Miljö.
