TCO Certified stands for environmentally and socially responsible IT purchases
TCO Certified is a global, comprehensive sustainability certification developed by TCO Development. It addresses sustainability issues connected to IT products and their supply chains and helps companies make responsible choices, reduce risk and meet regulatory obligations.
It has over 30 years' experience of driving sustainable development in the IT industry. By continuously developing criteria and verification methods, it tackles new challenges such as circularity, hazardous substances, and socially and environmentally responsible manufacturing.
The criteria target issues in four key areas: climate, substances, circularity and supply chain. All criteria are mandatory, which means that all products must meet all the criteria for their product category to be certified according to TCO Certified.
Companies can include TCO Certified in their procurement process by checking the certification status of their current product portfolio. The Product Finder tool lists all certified product models.
The need to go circular has become especially pressing as digitalisation continues to grow and with it the consumption of electronic devices. TCO Certified’s circular criteria help purchasers lower greenhouse gas emissions, reduce e-waste and extend the life of IT products.
TCO Certified has developed a Roadmap for Sustainable IT, with the ultimate goal of securing a future where all certified products are climate-neutral.
Thousands of certified products, including computers, displays and mobile devices, are available worldwide.
