Description

TEXroad is a foundation set up to collect and manage data on textiles as efficiently and effectively as possible. The purpose of this collection is to promote and enable circularity in the textiles industry.

Their basic precept is that reliable, accurate data is the key to real progress in this field.

TEXroad has set up two programmes:

  • Paving the way to 2025: separate waste collection will be mandatory from 2025, and this is going to require serious preparation. Local governments, textiles collectors and waste managers can all join this programme which is geared towards sharing good practices and expertise, building partnerships and developing the data needed to optimise the collection and management of textiles. This programme covers Estonia, Finland and the Netherlands.
  • Circular Textile Data Flow: Projects, digital tools and platforms, ministries and organisations managing or supporting circular textile projects can all join this programme. Participants will be assisted with managing and standardising their data and will be able to co-develop statistics, metrics and open-access tools. Economic incentives - or disincentives - to textiles circulation will be identified and a network for B2B and B2G circular textile data exchange will be set up. This programme covers the whole of Europe.

TEXroad has also produced reports describing what they are doing, such as the 2024 Basic Textile Data: Best Practices and Case Studies for Municipalities (available in English and Estonian).
