Scope

NONTOX (2019-2022) is an EU Horizon 2020 project which studied the technological and economic possibilities of increasing recycling of hazardous plastics from the Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV), and Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW) sectors. After almost four years of research and collaboration, NONTOX project partners are delighted to present the project results.

Here are some of the innovations that will be presented:

  • Active Hyperspectral Sensor technology
  • Innovative treatment solutions for waste plastic (CreaSolv®, Extruclean and thermochemical valorisation)
  • Upgrading of recyclates
  • Demonstrators
  • Life Cycle Assessment of the NONTOX approach.

The event will also explore other leading projects, funded by H2020 and Horizon Europe (the European research and innovation programmes) and working in the plastics recycling sector. These projects focus on enabling the transition to the circular economy by means of advanced eco-innovation technologies, processes, products and services. Colleagues from PLAST2bCLEANED and CREAToR will report back on the results achieved during their research and experimentation, while new projects such as INCREACE and PRIMUS will present their approach which is geared to making the plastics value chain more sustainable.

The NONTOX project final event will take place on 10 November 2022 from 09:00 to 12:15 CET, in English.
