The Federation of German industries (BDI) set up an industry initiative on the circular economy in April 2021. The BDI Circular Economy Initiative is a network of more than 50 members that takes a discussion-based approach to defining the circular economy's potential and the framework conditions needed. Accordingly, they are in close contact with policymakers in Berlin and Brussels, and with the scientific community.​​ The circular economy concept needs cooperation and discussion to work, and​ BDI is the industrial platform enabling this.​
