Zirkularrak: Circular Basque Products Exhibition
The Basque Country feels very strongly about the circular economy. One initiative they've adopted to promote it is the Zirkularrak website promoting locally made circular products.
It's well organised, enabling users to find hundreds of ecodesigned and circular products which are manufactured by Basque industry and are already available. The products are divided into ten categories, from automotive industry to food and construction materials.
Some focus on recycling, such as bottles for pineapple-kale-passion fruit juice made from 100% recycled and recyclable plastic and paint sold in packaging made of 80% recycled material from recovered polypropylene containers.
Others use by-products, such as ANI-MIC/AC: dehydrated calcium sulphate which is a by-product obtained in the production of hydrogen fluoride and used as a raw material.
For each item, there is a list of the environmental improvements made, such as less hazardous waste, fewer toxins and reduced water consumption.
There is also a list of the companies featured on the site, and every year Ihobe organises around four physical Exhibitions in the main cities of the Basque Country to raise circular awareness among businesses and society.
- This website promotes visibility of Basque-made circular and ecodesigned products.
- It familiarises users with circular concepts and criteria and is a great tool for buyers.
