Boat cruises on the Seine river go electric with Paris Yacht Company
French river transport company Paris Yacht Company owned by Seine Alliance has launched the Black Swan, a 100 % electric boat equipped with second-life batteries operating on the Seine river. The Black Swan has been developed in partnership with the Renault Group and Green-Vision, and it is operated by old lithium-ion batteries that can no longer be used in electric cars.
The boat can take up to eight people for a cruise on the river for up to four hours at a time. Being an electricity-powered boat, it also contributes to reducing the noise pollution along the Parisian waterway, thus minimising the impact of the river activities on the environment.
The company, which is committed to electrifying its entire fleet by 2024, has already begun building another - and much larger - zero-emission electric boat that can accommodate up to 80 passengers.
- Involvement of various private stakeholders in the project
- Contribution to circular practices in the transport sector.
