Circular.ie: tips and tricks on how to adopt circular behaviour
Circular.ie is a digital platform and resource hub which is designed to make the circular economy easy to understand and act on. It is a Government of Ireland project funded by the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment under the Circular Economy Fund and powered by the Rediscovery Centre.
The platform is based on three pillars:
- Circular living
The section looks at how to create less waste by reducing, reusing and repairing. There are plenty of examples of how to do this based around different situations.
You may be setting up house for the first time: there are tips on where you can look for good value, second-hand furniture, what you really would be better off buying new and where to get cheap paint. If you're a family with young children, there are tips on where to get second-hand clothes, suggestions on joining swap networks and a link to a site focusing on renewable nappies. Moving into a smaller home? There's advice on how to deal with the stuff you're not going to keep – and it doesn't involve hiring a van to take it all to the local tip!
There is also a list of activities taking place in specific areas, so you can see what's going on near you.
- Circular communities
This section is designed specifically for community groups, organisations and local leaders. There are grants available to help them share their message and grow their impact. The section includes training sessions, online and in person.
- Circular news
This section is a library of stories and updates from Ireland and beyond. You can read about which local authorities are offering grants or about the companies being supported by the government-funded Circular Ventures Accelerator programme, etc.
- Circular.ie provides information, advice and training intended to make circularity simple for everyone: what it is, what it means for your life and what you can do about it. The goal is to contribute to Ireland's circular transformation but much of the advice is relevant to everyone, wherever they may live.
- There is plenty of practical advice to help people take realistic steps to reduce waste and resource use. No jargon, no legislation, just sensible tips and tricks to make your behaviour more circular.
