Circular.ie is a digital platform and resource hub which is designed to make the circular economy easy to understand and act on. It provides information, advice and training intended to make circularity simple for everyone.
Circular Flanders is the hub and source of inspiration for the Flemish circular economy. It is a partnership of governments, companies, civil society and the knowledge community that take action together. Actions are bundled into six thematic working agendas that are supported by seven levers.
Veerle Labeeuw works as a facilitator for the circular and sustainable transformation, with a focus on bridging policy, innovation and practical implementation. With a strong background in communication, she works on accelerating the transition towards a circular economy through collaboration across sectors and regions. Veerle is particularly experienced in the topics of circular procurement and the circular built environment, and she coordinated the leadership groups on these issues during the previous term of the ECESP.
Resourceful Cities was an URBACT Action Planning Network of nine European cities. The project sought to develop the next generation of urban resource centres. These resource centres see waste as a source of raw materials, thus acting as catalysts for the local circular economy.
The REFLOW project sought to understand and transform urban material flows, and to co-create and test regenerative solutions at business, governance and individual levels to create a resilient circular economy. Projects were carried out in six pilot cities, covering areas such as textiles and energy from waste.
SISTERS is an EU H2020-funded project that aims to design, implement and promote innovations to address bottlenecks at each stage of the food value chain. The end goal is a systemic reduction in food loss & waste.
The GLOPACK project investigated food packaging with no environmental footprint and the ability to extend the shelf life of food products.
It focused on biodegradable and home compostable food packaging made from agro-food residues, bio-packaging and battery-free RIFD bio-sensors to track food freshness.
The Horizon Europe FISSAC project aimed to develop and demonstrate a new paradigm built on an innovative industrial symbiosis model. This model was intended to deliver a zero waste approach in the resource-intensive industries of the construction value chain.
The CircE Project (European regions toward Circular Economy) was an Interreg Europe project implemented during the 2014-2020 financing period. It aimed to reinforce the take-up of the circular economy in Europe.
EIT Climate-KIC is Europe’s leading climate innovation agency and community, supporting cities, regions, countries and industries as they work to meet their climate ambitions through systems innovation and place-based transformations.
Anna Brassa is part of EIT Climate-KIC's leadership team as a Deep Demonstrations Teams Orchestrator. The Deep Demonstrations project, launched in 2019, serves as a testbed for large-scale, place-based demonstrations of sustainable, regenerative living. She also oversees the work performed by Climate-KIC with the Government of Slovenia on the Deep Demonstration of a Circular, Regenerative and Low-Carbon Economy in Slovenia, developing pathways for a more radical transition to climate neutrality through a circular economy, using a systems innovation approach.
The SYMBA project (Securing Local Supply Chains via the Development of New Methods to Assess the Circularity and Symbiosis of the Bio-based Industrial Ecosystem) will help deliver bio-based solutions with reduced environmental impacts on soil, water and air quality.
The project aims to achieve this by creating an innovative method of industrial symbiosis which can be replicated across the EU, geared to the local/regional bio-based industrial ecosystem. This method will be used to help design zero-waste value chains.
