Recover® recycled yarns adress the high environmental pressure of cotton textile production
Hilature Ferre mill has been recycling textile materials since 1947, but it is in 2015 that the company officially launched its Recover Upcycled Textile System for open end high quality recycled yarns.
Hilaturas Ferre collects and sorts textile waste resources from all over the planet, cutting and shredding them to produce new fiber to feed their industrial spinning process. The Recover yarns contain a consistent percentage of 50% recycled cotton, blended with other recycled material such as polyester from PET bottles.
The high percentage of cotton means that the recycled yarn can be used in the production of high-end textiles, fit for the clothing industry. It also adresses the very high environmental pressure linked to virgin cotton production for the textile industry. Despite the market constraint of maintaining consistent quality and colours, the recycling process at the Ferre mill includes no water nor chemical dies.
All products made out of Recover textiles can be recycled at the end of their lives, returning into the system for a new production loop.
The 50% percentage of recycled cotton ensures that the end product addresses environmental issues and meet demanding quality criteria in the fashion industry.
In addition to its production process, the company offers a closed-loop waste management program for the fashion industry, by which it recovers all forms of cotton textile waste directly from brands and retailers and exchanges these resources for new yarns.
