Background information

The Joint Research Centre and the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety set up the European Consumer Food Waste Forum as a network of international practitioners and researchers who identified a variety of evidence-based, practical solutions to reduce food waste at consumer level, including household and food services. The outcome of their work was published both as a Compendium of tools, best practices and recommendations to help all key players working to prevent food waste, and as leaflets in all EU languages with recommendations for policy makers, food businesses and schools.
