Science for Environment Policy has issued a Themed Alert on the circular economy

Science for Environment Policy is published by the European Commission's Directorate-General for the Environment. It's intended to help policymakers stay up to date with the latest environmental research findings needed to design, implement and regulate effective policies – but the various issues are available to anyone who's interested.

This edition is a collection of seven previously published articles on scientific studies relevant to the circular economy:

  • Life cycle assessment data: evaluating its potential for environmental labelling. See what fact
  • Distance and communication style affect usage of a battery disposal scheme
  • Renewable energy storage from second-life batteries is viable but may benefit from subsidies
  • More circular, less carbon: chemical recycling holds promise for wind-turbine blade waste
  • E-waste: chemical processing without heat may offer efficient method of recovering metals from end-of-life products
