The company has created the BioMakery, a modular urban metabolic hub that combines advanced wastewater treatment, resource recovery, renewable energy generation, urban farming and community functions within a single facility. Powered by its patented Metabolic Network Reactor technology, the BioMakery transforms wastewater and organic waste into clean water, energy, nutrients, minerals and valuable biological materials, helping cities recover resources that would otherwise be lost.
Through biological engineering and biorefinery technologies, organic waste is converted into secondary raw materials such as proteins, cellulose, biopolymers, compost and fertilizers, while treated water can be reused for drinking, irrigation, industrial processes or environmental restoration. The company's metabolic mapping and dynamic simulation services help cities identify opportunities to reduce resource consumption, recover waste streams and optimise circular infrastructure.
Beyond technology development, Biopolus raises awareness of circular economy principles by collaborating with municipalities, universities, research institutions and industry partners through demonstration projects, EU-funded research programmes and its open innovation platform.
