ECONYL®: regenerated nylon yarn
Nylon waste is reprocessed and turned into an innovative material: ECONYL®.
Through the ECONYL® Regeneration System, fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpet flooring and industrial plastic are collected from around the world. The waste materials are then sorted and cleaned to recover all of the nylon possible.
An advanced chemical recycling process restores the nylon waste into brand-new nylon. This method, unlike traditional mechanical processes, allows ECONYL® regenerated nylon to retain 100% of the qualities of new nylon but without the environmental footprint of conventional oil-based nylon.
ECONYL® is spun into yarns or processed into polymers for limitless nylon applications. It is a versatile product which can be used in interiors, the automotive sector, fashion, hospitality, transportation and logistics.
- For every 10 000 tons of raw material used to produce ECONYL® nylon, the company saves 70 000 barrels of crude oil.
- It is available as a polymer chip or yarn.
- ECONYL® is infinitely recyclable.
