Fjällräven up-cycles wool as a by-product of the meat industry
Description
Fjällräven has developed a new way of reducing its environmental footprint, the so-called "Recovered Wool" initiative, by using wool waste from the Swedish sheep farms producing meat. Until not so long ago, they were disposing of approximately 100 tons of wool per year, which did not have the same fibre quality as the wool produced for garments.
Main activity field
Main results
Fjällräven is giving wool waste a second life since it keeps most of the wool relevant properties such as:
- temperature regulation
- durability
- breathability and
- odour resistance.
Other results include:
- innovative use of wool waste
- contribution to circular practices in the textile sector.
