Re:inventex: mechanical textile waste recycling in Ukraine
Re:inventex is carrying out a project for the recycling of post-industrial and pre-consumer textile waste. It is essentially the first pilot project in Ukraine to create a modern infrastructure for the collection, sorting and recycling of textile waste.
Its activities help solve the problem of waste in the textile industry, greening Ukraine's economy and turning waste into secondary raw materials.
Re:inventex:
- Delivers certified services for recycling textile waste and used goods in Ukraine;
- Produces fibre for nonwovens;
- Produces high quality, innovative secondary (regenerated) fibre for yarn production;
- Produces short fibre for construction mixtures from polyester and polyamide textile waste;
- Recovers fibre from waste and uses it to manufacture heavy-duty fabrics containing meta- and para-aramid fibres.
- Produces finished products from recovered fibre: blankets, bags, etc.
The company uses mechanical recycling technologies which yield high quality fibres suited to various applications. Regenerated fibres are produced using a process which does not alter the material's structure. The project uses synthetic, natural and artificial fibres.
Raw materials are sourced from textile and fashion industry manufacturing waste (such as unsold scraps, offcuts, trimming and thread remnants) as well as unsold textile products such as clothing, home textiles and fabrics.
- Re:inventex has a production capacity of approximately 2 500 tons of textile waste per year, and intends to increase this to 10 000 tons by 2027.
- Re:inventex has the equipment to perform high-quality recycling of textile waste, converting up to 95% of waste into raw materials that have wide applications.
