Description

ECOALF is a Spanish fashion company with a very keen interest in circularity and sustainability. It focuses on developing innovative methods to produce fabrics that do not hurt the planet.

ECOALF was founded in 2009, when Javier Goyeneche sought to develop a sustainable fashion brand that would integrate breakthrough technology in textile production to produce clothing from entirely recycled materials. With a vision of stopping the careless use of natural resources, ECOALF set out to create the first generation of recycled products with the same quality and design as the best non-recycled.

By 2025, they are certainly doing that! Their website has a wide range of clothing, and each item includes information on the fabric used. For instance, a jacket is made of 100% recycled polyester, a sweater is made of 100% recycled cotton, another sweater is made of 100% recycled wool, a pair of swimming trunks are made from 100% recycled nylon and a pair of sandals are made of 85% recycled polyester ocean yarn produced from bottles and other waste collected from the ocean. Each listing provides details on the amount of water and CO2 emissions saved.

As well as recycled materials, ECOALF uses natural materials with a low environmental impact, such as linen, hemp, cellulose fibres and organic cotton. for instance, there's a T-shirt is made of 100% linen with a description of why linen is a great choice of fabric for the environment.

ECOALF also runs the Upcycling the Oceans project combating marine waste with the help of the fishing industry. It has now been implemented in Thailand, Greece, Italy, France and Egypt. The waste is used to produce polyester ocean yarn.
