SUM 2025 - 8th Multidisciplinary Symposium on Circular Economy and Urban Mining

SUM 2025, the 8th Multidisciplinary Symposium on Circular Economy and Urban Mining will take place on 21 to 23 May on the island of Procida, (Naples, Italy).

Organised by the International Waste Working Group (IWWG), the Symposium has been held every two years since 2012. Following the success of the 2024 conference in Capri, which brought together experts from 34 countries and various disciplines, SUM has now become an annual event.

It aims to foster dialogue and collaboration among diverse disciplines - including Agronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Engineering, Medicine, Psychology, Sociology, etc. - while engaging stakeholders like industry leaders, policy makers, NGOs and local authorities, and promoting strategic partnerships to address the global challenges of the circular economy.

The conference programme will cover all aspects related to the circular economy, unfolding in parallel tracks of oral sessions, workshops, poster presentations and many other activities.

It will present papers on issues ranging from concepts in saving, recovery and recycling of material resources to circular economy: cooperation between environmental scientists and the lively arts.
