Attero InfiniteFilm: high-end post-consumer film recycling
Attero - Robert Corijn
Description
Attero post-separation plant can process nearly 600.000 tonnes of municipal solid waste per year, to separate packaging materials for recycling. Post-consumer film is separated from municipal waste. The film is then recycled in Attero's new Polymer Recycling Plant (PRP) into Attero InfiniteFilm LDPE regranulate. The PRP has an annual capacity of 24.000 tons of post-consumer film. The film is shredded into flakes, which are washed in different washing steps using cold and hot washing. The washed flakes are then granulated by Erema machines into high-quality pellets (Attero InfiniteFilm regranulate), from which new film can be obtained. A truly circular solution, made possible with support from the EU LIFE program.

Main results
- Recycling post-consumer film from municipal solid waste
- Achieving a quality that allows for circularity: from film to film
- Processing high volumes efficiently: 24.000 tons of post-consumer film per year
- Achieving a very low carbon footprint, by using residual heat for hot washing and by waste water circulation
