The CircularLab: an innovation centre driving on the circular economy
Ecoembes launched The CircularLab, its pioneering circular economy project, in 2017, drawing on 25 years of waste management.
It is an innovation centre, focusing on developing innovative solutions to waste management. Based in La Rioja, it works with universities, technological centres, businesses and public authorities around the world to drive innovation in the circular economy and recycling. It is exploring how the IoT and BigData can support the circular economy.
The site provides information on ecodesign and waste technologies, along with a wealth of information to guide people through getting to grips with the circular economy. There is a description of what the circular economy is and why it is important, and advice on how individuals and companies can adopt circular principles.
The CircularLab is also active in research, such as the bio-based plastic project and various studies. It is working on smart waste management based on data capture and analysis: the SmartWaste platform is open to public authorities, businesses, universities and technological centres and is intended to provide the data needed to improve decision making and so make waste management more efficient.
The CircularLab aims to foster the circular economy and equip people with the tools and information they need to go circular.
