Biorefine Cluster Europe (BCE) links up projects and people in the area of bio-based resource recovery, with a view to contributing to more sustainable and circular resource management.
It focuses on the biorefinery sector, i.e. chemicals, materials, energy and products from bio-based waste streams:
Bio-based (waste) streams as an input for the circular economy
Bioprocesses
Sustainable bio-energy production in its various shapes, and
Resource recovery: extracting minerals, chemicals, water and materials from biomass.
Its main objectives:
Strengthening interaction between projects
Fostering dissemination and stakeholder outreach
Enhancing research
Identifying gaps in knowledge.
BCE aims to build its community and promote knowledge exchange.
PACCT for Sustainability is an ecosystem of collaboration and learning. It seeks to drive an economic revolution where service and sustainability is the keystone of businesses across Europe. It aspires to build a European community focused on Product as a Service, thereby redefining market standards as part of a global transformation in line with the principles of the ecological transition.
With the support of ADEME, Michelin, BASF and Johnston Circular, PACCT for Sustainability strives to rethink traditional economic models so as to speed up the sustainable transformation of the economy. It will do so by developing innovative business models aiming to replace an approach based on volume and products with a service geared towards customers and impact.
The Taskforce for climate neutral and circular materials and products was launched at COP26 in September 2021, convened by the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. The Taskforce to positively influence policy discussions by enabling progressive businesses across sectors and value chains to join forces. It seeks to bring together companies committed to using climate neutral and sustainable materials and which are raising awareness about the need for EU measures to help decarbonise materials.
The key objective is to drive the development and implementation of and support for more ambitious, future-proof policies, programmes and initiatives in Europe with a view to creating an ecosystem moving rapidly away from the energy- and resource-intensive production of materials.
The Economy of Francesco is a platform set up upon a call from Pope Francis for young entrepreneurs, researchers and economists to work together to transform today’s economy with a view to combating the culture of waste and promoting social justice.
The initial call received over 3000 applications from 120 countries, showing that there is a whole community that feels deeply about this. Annual events are in line with the Ecology of Francesco's principles for reduced environmental impact.
EoF provides a regular programme of initiatives organised at regional or local level in the form of workshops, laboratories, seminars, conferences, round tables, calls for action and much more.
CER Sustainable Business Network Slovenia is the largest sustainable business network in Slovenia, on a mission to strengthen ambitions and activities to achieve a climate-neutral economy faster.
They bring business leaders together to share experience and good practices, advocate for change, influence policy and accelerate the green transition using collective action. They raise awareness, grow ambition, build capacities, promote green tech and foster partnerships to boost the transition to climate neutrality.
They bridge the gap between stakeholders, offering them a safe space for open discussion about systemic barriers to reach climate neutrality. The circular economy is one of its areas of interest.
CER is involved in the EU's DESIRE project on Designing the Irresistible Circular Society
Circular Economy Coalition (CERC) promotes the key objectives of the Circular Economy Action Plan in Romania, encouraging the development of new markets and business models, and contributing to economic growth and job creation.
It does this by:
producing studies on waste management
setting up partnerships with national and international bodies with a view to establishing programmes geared to implementing circular principles
organising events to promote the exchange of knowledge and good practices
communicating with local and central authorities on how the circular economy can benefit Romania's economy
promoting compliance with waste management rules, including the fields of recycling, reuse and alternative fuels
promoting the EU recommendations on green public procurement
The Circular Economy for Flexible Packaging (CEFLEX) initiative is a collaboration of over 180 European companies, associations and organisations representing the entire value chain of flexible packaging. It wants all flexible packaging to be designed for easy collection, sorting and recycling, with valuable new markets and applications created for the recycled materials.
CEFLEX stakeholders represent the full value chain including: raw material producers (plastics, paper and aluminium foil), ink, coating and adhesive suppliers, film producers and flexible packaging converters, brand owners, waste management companies, recyclers, extended producer responsibility organisations and technology suppliers.
Chemical Recycling Europe represents the European chemical recycling industry. It aims to promote and implement a circular economy for plastics through innovative solutions offered by chemical recycling.
Chemical recycling can help combat climate change by limiting further emissions, and chemical recycling technologies play a key role in supporting the transition towards a more sustainable and circular economy in Europe.
Chemical Recycling Europe's members offer innovative and unique technologies to transform previously unrecyclable plastic waste into new raw materials. Chemical recycling makes it possible to close the loop and provides many solutions to the plastic waste crisis.
