Nordic Sustainable Construction is a programme set up under the Nordic Council of Ministers. It aims to create a green transition with green growth in the Nordic societies by working toward carbon neutrality and a sustainable, circular and bio-based economy based on knowledge, innovation, mobility and digital integration.
In May 2025, it began three new work packages to create best practice guidelines for the industry and map industry structures and practices to find improved solutions.
BIOBUILD, a Horizon Europe-funded innovation project, has been launched with a €4.9 million budget to provide thermal solutions for energy efficient buildings using fully bio-based building materials.
The project incorporates bio-based phase change materials (bioPCMs) into solid wood and fibres bound by plant oil resins, lignin and fungal mycelium. BIOBUILD aims to reduce the energy consumption of buildings by up to 20%.

OCF (one-component foam) producers have invested in a recycling company which recycles the metals in the packaging material, the reactive residual polyurethane prepolymer and the propellant.
Flustix is a certification body for plastic-free and partially plastic-free products as well as goods made from recycled and recyclable plastics. By making plastic reduction clearly visible for customers, the certification provides guidance and the opportunity to make a plastic-aware buying decision.
