CERC promotes the key objectives of the Circular Economy Action Plan in Romania, encouraging the development of new markets and business models, and contributing to economic growth and job creation.
It does this by:
producing studies on waste management
setting up partnerships with national and international bodies with a view to establishing programmes geared to implementing circular principles
organising events to promote the exchange of knowledge and good practices
communicating with local and central authorities on how the circular economy can benefit Romania's economy
promoting compliance with waste management rules, including the fields of recycling, reuse and alternative fuels
promoting the EU recommendations on green public procurement
Rombat is the largest producer of car batteries in Romania. Since 2005, the company has been collecting vehicle batteries to extract the lead they contain, recycle them and manufacture new batteries. The batteries are processed at the 3.7 ha Rebat facility in Copșa Mică.
The EduZWaCE platform is one of the intellectual outputs of the Education for Zero Waste and Circular Economy project, funded by the Greek National Agency under Erasmus+.

Knowledge Hub: interactive resource centre gathering useful information for Vocational Education and Training teachers and professionals
Genesis Biopartner collects organic waste from catering businesses, the agrifood industry and retail and converts it into biogas and then into green energy and fertiliser.
The educational project Ecotic Caravan was co-financed by LIFE+ and ran from 2014 to 2016. It aimed to raise awareness about environmental protection and sustainable development by focusing on efficient management of WEEE. The caravan travelled across Romania, organised workshops with school children and was parked in the main squares so that the general public could easily interact.
Green Group Holding specialises in waste management in the broadest meaning of the term. Active across Europe, its headquarters are in Romania and its primary facilities are in Central East and South East Europe and the Baltic countries. It collects waste and recycles it into secondary raw materials.
Banca Regională Pentru Alimente Cluj (Cluj Regional Food Bank) collects food donated by producers, importers, distributors and retailers and redistributes it to NGOs in the counties of Cluj, Alba, Sibiu and Bistrița-Năsăud. Reducing waste and delivering positive social impact!
