In October 2015 the Luxembourg government named the municipality of Wiltz a Circular Economy Hotspot. In February 2018 Wiltz renewed its political commitment with a Circular Economy Charter signed by its municipal council, by which it undertook to mainstream the circular economy in its future project and activities.
The 2023-2029 political declaration keeps up this momentum.
Water2REturn was an Innovation Action co-funded by the European Commission under its Horizon 2020 programme. It focused on the recovery and recycling of nutrients from slaughterhouse wastewater as part of a circular economy model.
On the 24th of May, C&A Foundation, together with Ecopreneur.EU hosted a Circular Fashion Policy Lab in Brussels at the European Economic and Social Committee in the context of the Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform. PSLoop Project is an innovative purification process for recycling expanded polystyrene foam demolition waste containing HBCD.
This innovative project employs a ground-breaking technology for dissolving expanded polystyrene foam waste and extracting and recovering bromine from the restricted flame retardant chemical, HBCD. The bromine can then be used again to make new flame retardants.
