Scope

A newly launched report by the Norwegian Climate Committee 2050 (available in Norwegian) provides a comprehensive analysis of the challenges Norway faces in meeting its climate targets, highlighting problem areas such as consumption, emissions and biodiversity. It shines a spotlight on a significant gap between stated ambitions in current climate policies and the measures actually adopted.

To bridge this gap, the report makes several key recommendations (available in English), including outlining the role that the circular economy plays in solving the climate crisis.

A Circular Economy and Resource Efficiency conference with a multi-disciplinary perspective on how circular economy can be deployed to effect change in the day-to-day practice will be held in in Trondheim (Norway) and online by NTNU Sustainability.

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is one of the key policies requiring EU Member States to organise separate collection of textile waste as of 2025. EPR schemes are an important tool for reducing the environmental impact of textiles, promoting circularity and contributing to more efficient end-of-life management.

Join the hybrid event on EPR for circularity: towards a more sustainable EU textile sector on
29 November from 15:00 to 17:30 CET at the European Parliament or online.

CircularPSP brings together eight leading Circular Economy cities, representing 45 million people. Its focus is pre-commercial procurement (PCP).

It has invested EUR 5.64 million in R&D and provides training and holds conferences. The procurers represent a number of European countries, including capitals with strong global outreach (Berlin, Helsinki, London and Istanbul).

Its goal is to design, develop and test an innovative ‘circular economy solution’ that enables municipalities and their staff as well as businesses in the local economy to apply circular practices more quickly, frequently, widely and effectively.

Other cities, regions, government organisations, public procurers and projects are encouraged to become part of the Follower Network.
